Leaves with Pay

Presidential Award for Professional Development of Probationary Faculty

Probationary faculty in years two, three and four are eligible to apply for a Presidential Award for Professional Development of Probationary Faculty. The leave will be taken in the subsequent third, fourth or fifth probationary year.

Awards are competitive and will be granted on the basis of proposals which demonstrate the ability of the faculty member to accomplish the project within the time-frame of the award, the significance of the activity, the clarity of the proposal and the need for the award.

The award cycle for 2019/20 has closed.

Sabbatical Leave with Pay

Sabbatical leaves may be granted for one semester with full pay; or for two semesters with half pay. The current collective bargaining agreement (Article 27) has changed the way in which academic year, half pay applications are evaluated. For this reason, if a faculty member recieves an academic year, half pay sabbatical, they cannot change to a one semester, full pay sabbatical.

The award cycle for 2019/20 has closed.

Difference in Pay Leaves

Difference in Pay leaves may be granted for one or two semesters at a difference in pay between the recipient's salary for each leave semester and the salary of an instructor. In case of a Fall 2020 Difference in Pay, the pay warrant for August 2020 (received on September 1, 2020) will reflect the reduced monthly salary amount.

The award cycle for 2019/20 has closed.
